Nomination and Election of new YMRA board members !

YMRA Holds Successful Board Elections, Ensuring Future Advocacy for Yucaipa’s Mobile Home Residents

Yucaipa, CA – November 9, 2024 – The Yucaipa Mobile Home Residents Association (YMRA) successfully held its annual meeting on Saturday, November 9th, at the Yucaipa Women’s Club, marking a pivotal moment for the future of mobile home residents in the city. The well-attended meeting saw the nomination and election of new board members, who were elected by a show of hands from YMRA members in attendance.

This election was particularly significant, as YMRA had been teetering on the brink of dissolution just months ago. After over 30 plus years of service to the community, the association faced serious challenges, including dwindling membership and volunteer support. However, thanks to the efforts of dedicated mobile home residents, the organization has been revitalized, with new board members stepping forward to ensure its continued advocacy for Yucaipa’s growing population of mobile home residents.

The YMRA has long been the sole organization representing affordable living and the interests of Yucaipa’s 41 mobile home parks.  It has played a crucial role in advocating for fair policies with the City of Yucaipa, addressing issues related to mobile home park conditions, rent stabilization, and other matters critical to mobile home residents and Yucaipa’s mobile home communities. The election on Saturday underscores the importance of maintaining a unified voice for these residents, especially as the city of Yucaipa continues to grow and face new development pressures.

With the new board members now in place, the YMRA is preparing to strengthen its outreach efforts, work with local officials, and continue its long-standing mission of advocacy for Yucaipa’s mobile home residents.  The election of the new board members was met with enthusiasm and a renewed sense of hope for the future of the organization from the members in attendance. 

The newly elected board members are:

· Chairman: Mark Westwood

· 1st Vice Chair: Lee Kaberlein

· 2nd Vice Chair: Dick Ault

· 3rd Vice Chair: Dave Maynard

· Recording Secretary: Dave Daren

· Treasurer, Edward Timmons. 

Two positions, Information Secretary and Information Technician will be combined into one and that position is still open. 

YMRA members are encouraged to stay engaged and continue supporting the association’s efforts to represent their interests. As the only advocacy group of its kind in Yucaipa, the YMRA remains dedicated to ensuring that the voices of mobile home residents are heard in all matters that affect their homes and communities.
